Santa Catarina Nature Expedition

This project was developed between 2004 and 2005 (see the making of here).. It resulted in a book and an exhibition, which were launched in 2005 at the Historic Museum of Santa Catarina in Florianópolis, south of Brazil. Em 2006 a exposição foi exibida na Galeria Nobre do Centro Cultural da Caixa Econômica Federal, na Praça da Sé em São Paulocurated by Rosely Nakagawa. Em 2007 a exposição foi exibida na Galeria dos Arcos, no Centro Cultural Usina do Gasômetro, em Porto Alegre RS.

Nature photography is as full of traps as nature itself.

The landscape itself brings beauty in such an order that the photographer can hardly escape common images. Nature always surpasses him.

Entrar nesta paisagem e se tornar parte dela é a solução para compreendê-la melhor  e poder retratá-la como alguma coisa nova.

Zé Paiva then emerges from the middle of the forests, rivers, rocks, and there you have it: the photographer has become a plant, or a rock, or a river; a small insect, a microscopic flower.

Being part of it: that is the secret to survive and stay by its side.
